“Using a Realistic Flight Simulator is the best way to economically practice and perfect your flying skills”

 

There is a saying among the aviation community that when you obtain your pilot’s license, you haven’t really earned your license to fly. You’ve merely just earned your license to learn.

Of course, after spending a trying forty-plus hours (at bare minimum) of flight time training for all of the required maneuvers in order to pass your written test, your oral test, and then finally your check ride, you might, not surprisingly, beg to differ with that statement.

After all, you’ve already proven to the flight examiner that you have mastered everything you need to know about safely being able to pilot an aircraft. You can take off and land it safely in one piece, right?

But the fact of the matter is that aviation (as with just about any other skill in life) is a lifelong process of continuous learning. You need to constantly keep your skills up to date. You need to constantly keep up with changes in the rules and regulations, the technology, information about aircraft, airports, and meteorological conditions. Plus, aviation is an extremely safety-conscious industry. Pilots everywhere are encouraged to study the mistakes of other pilots in order to learn from them, so as not to repeat the same mistakes that they have made.

So when they say that your pilot’s license is not a license to fly, but a license to learn, it means that just because the FAA now deems you worthy to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft, doesn’t mean that you have learned everything that you need to know about being a pilot. It just means that you now have a responsibility on your shoulders to learn, grow, and improve your knowledge and enhance your skills.
